Ben Laslett, CMHC-I
Originally from Canterbury, England, Ben now resides in North Ogden, Utah. He completed most of his education in the U.K., earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Sport and Exercise Science from Canterbury Christ Church University, followed by a master’s degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Chichester. Ben then went onto complete his graduate training to become a chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist (CPsychol) through the British Psychological Society (BPS) – This training is considered the ‘gold standard’ route towards becoming a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in the UK and is similar to the training route to become a certified mental performance consultant (CMPC) in the USA. Ben recently completed his PhD in applied sport psychology, where the focus of his research was around testing the impact of a strength-based group communication activity across sport and performance settings.
Ben has worked as a sport psychology consultant for the last few years. In this role Ben has worked with individual athletes, coaches, parents, performance artists, teams, sports academies and other sporting organizations. There are two main strands to the work Ben conducts with his clients: 1) one-to-one psychological support and 2) group workshops/psychoeducational sessions. Ben is also a certified personal trainer, fitness instructor, soccer coach, and table tennis coach. His lifelong passion for soccer led to a decade-long semi-professional career in the U.K., where he played over 400 competitive matches for the same club, a testament to his dedication and loyalty. He also spent several years coaching within a professional youth soccer academy.
